Your Moving & Storage Questions Answered

Are you guys fully licensed and insured?

Yes, Shalom Movers is a fully-licensed moving company that's also insured.

When's the best time to book my move?

We think that it's best to plan and schedule your move as early as possible. Saturdays and Sundays close to the end of the month are our busiest times, so it's a good idea to call us early and lock your preferred date in.

What's the best way to save money on a move?

Get organized and start preparing as soon as possible! Clear the high-traffic and tight areas of your home so we can quickly and easily move your items. This includes small children and pets - they should stay safely clear of the work areas.

Investing in quality moving boxes and packing equipment is also a good idea. They should not fall apart as they are being transported. They should also be accurately and clearly labelled. Shalom Movers is always careful with your items, but if a box is labelled as fragile, we'll make sure that nothing heavy is placed upon it.

We can certainly disassemble furniture and office equipment, but if some items have already been taken apart by the time that we arrive, that also means that we'll finish earlier … saving you money.

Anything that cuts down on time will help you save money. If you're in an apartment complex, talk to your building supervisor and reserve the elevator for moving day. Making sure that we can park near your home's entrance is another way.

Does your moving company provide moving boxes and packing supplies?

Yes! Shalom Movers already comes fully equipped with moving equipment, boxes, and packing materials. There's a charge for each moving box and other supplies, but there's no delivery charges or fees. Just let us know what you'll need and we'll ensure that you won't be short on supplies.

Does your moving company have a storage service?

Yes. Shalom movers has a secure and climate-controlled storage warehouse located by Yellowhead Trail and Wayne Gretzky Drive. We offer this service solely for clients of our moving services (the First month is FREE) It is not public self-storage, and you must call ahead to make an appointment with our warehouse manager whenever you require access to your items.

Do you offer insurance?

Yes. Shalom Movers can provide you with full cargo insurance up to $50,000 (more if needed). This protects your property from fire, theft, and other calamities. Also, we include the Industry Standard Coverage of $2.00 per kg per article for local and long distance moves up to $2,000 Free of Charge. Please call our operators for additional information.

What if I don't want to take some items with me to my new location?

If you don't want to immediately take an item with you, Shalom Movers can store your items in our warehouse, dispose of them at the city dump, or deliver them to auction (or another location). Just let us know what works best for you and we can help plan the rest.

What forms of payment does Shalom Movers accept?

We accept eTransfer, Visa, MasterCard, Bank Draft, Money Orders, and Cash.
